What Are the Steps Involved in Bathroom Remodeling?
Straight answers from a Conway, AR remodeling team: 20 years of experience, in business since 2014, 500+ remodels, licensed and insured.
Quick Answer
A bathroom remodel follows seven steps: planning, design and permits; demolition; plumbing and electrical rough-in with inspection; backer board and drywall; waterproofing and tile; installing fixtures, vanity and toilet; and final paint, caulk and cleanup. Doing them in this order protects the waterproofing and keeps inspections on schedule.

The 7 Steps of a Bathroom Remodel
1. Planning, design and permits
We measure, review layout and material options, finalize selections and pull any permits required.
2. Demolition
Old fixtures, surfaces and damaged materials come out, and we protect the rest of your home from dust.
3. Rough-in and inspection
Plumbing and electrical lines are installed or updated, then inspected when required before walls close.
4. Backer board and drywall
Cement board goes in wet areas and moisture-resistant drywall elsewhere.
5. Waterproofing and tile
A waterproof membrane is applied and allowed to cure, then tile or wall panels are installed and grouted.
6. Fixtures, vanity and toilet
The vanity, toilet, shower trim, glass, lighting and accessories are installed and tested.
7. Paint, caulk and cleanup
Final paint, caulk and a full cleanup, then a walkthrough with you.
How We Run Each Step
Our own crew handles the work and we keep you updated at each stage. We order long-lead items before demolition so the bathroom is not torn out while waiting. Start with a free in-home quote, or read our bathroom remodeling services overview.
