Central Arkansas summers are humid, and bathrooms add even more moisture. Here is how to keep it under control.

Ventilate

  • Run the exhaust fan during every shower and for about 20 minutes after.*
  • Make sure the fan vents outdoors, not into the attic.
  • Clean the fan grille so it moves air well.

Dry surfaces

  • Squeegee shower walls and glass.
  • Hang towels and bath mats to dry fully.

Watch for warning signs

  • Peeling paint or bubbling near the shower
  • Soft or spongy floor near the tub or toilet
  • Musty smell that will not go away
  • Cracked caulk or loose tile
  • Stains on the ceiling below an upstairs bathroom
These can mean water is getting behind walls. Small repairs now prevent bigger repairs later.

Reduce places for mold to grow

Grout lines and old caulk trap moisture. Grout-free All-Star Shower Systems wall panels give mildew fewer places to grow.*
